WHEN TO VISIT

The ideal time for an African safari varies by region: in Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia) the dry months from May to October offer the best wildlife viewing, while East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) is prime from June to October and December to March. We are here to guide you in choosing the perfect season, ensuring you witness iconic wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable moments on every game drive.

  • Calendar:
May to October (dry season / winter)

    Climate:
Sunny and mild days, cooler nights; low rainfall and clear skies.

    Temperature:
Average 20°C to 28°C, cooler in higher altitudes; nights can drop significantly.

    Best for:
Game drives with easy wildlife spotting as animals gather around water sources; exploring private reserves and national parks with minimal vegetation obstructing views.

    Avoid:
November to April — rainy season with lush landscapes, fewer visible animals, and potentially impassable roads.

  • Calendar:
June to October & December to March (dry seasons)

    Climate:
Dry and pleasant, with clear skies and ideal conditions for wildlife viewing and trekking.

    Temperature:
Average 22°C to 30°C, cooler in highland areas.

    Best for:
Game drives and witnessing the Great Migration in Serengeti/Maasai Mara (June–October); gorilla trekking in Rwanda and Uganda (December–March).

    Avoid:
April and May — long rains, muddy roads, and more challenging wildlife sightings.

  • Calendar:
June to September & December to February

    Climate:
Drier periods with manageable trails, ideal for trekking in dense forests and highland areas.

    Temperature:
Average 18°C to 25°C, cooler at higher elevations.

    Best for:
Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, guided jungle walks, and wildlife encounters in safer, drier conditions.
