Atlantic Canada & The Far North

Canada’s eastern edge is defined by dramatic coastlines, raw Atlantic landscapes and a deep sense of remoteness. Expect iceberg-dotted seas, coastal hiking, wild ocean encounters and access to the Arctic tundra, where polar bears roam and seasonal spectacles such as the Northern Lights appear. This region offers a rare blend of cultural depth, wildlife and profound stillness.

The Canadian Interior

Moving west, the heart of the country opens into vast ranchlands, pristine lakes and mountainous wilderness. Here, experiences centre on horseback exploration, fly-fishing, heli-accessed adventures and immersive time in nature-led landscapes. It’s a slower, more grounded Canada, which is ideal for journeys shaped around space, rhythm and a strong connection to the land and nature.

Eastern Coast

On the west coast, dense rainforest meets the Pacific Ocean in one of Canada’s most wildlife-rich regions. Expect grizzly bear encounters, whale watching, coastal fjords and remote access by floatplane or boat. Between rugged shorelines and temperate rainforest, this is Canada at its most dramatic — where nature, water and wilderness define every experience.

WHEN TO VISIT

Canada can be visited year-round, but timing matters. Spring begins from mid-May in the east and later in the Rockies. July and August are the busiest months, with peak travel from mid-July to mid-August. September is often ideal, offering good conditions and fewer crowds. Autumn is especially beautiful in Québec, with fall colours throughout October. April and November are generally less suitable for travel due to seasonal transitions.

  • Calendar:
    Mid-May to late June

    Climate:
Spring arrives first in eastern Canada and later in the Rockies. Landscapes open up gradually, wildlife becomes more active and travel conditions improve before peak season.

    Temperature:
Average 10°C to 20°C, cooler in mountain and northern regions.

    Best for:
Eastern Canada and Québec, scenic rail journeys, fly-fishing and private guided hiking. A good period for early-season Arctic travel, with increasing wildlife activity and long daylight hours.

  • Calendar:
    July to mid-August

    Climate:
Warm, stable weather across most regions with long daylight hours. This is the most active travel period, particularly in western and coastal Canada.

    Temperature:
Average 20°C to 30°C, cooler along the coast and at altitude.

    Best for:
British Columbia and the Pacific coast, coastal cruising, grizzly bear encounters, whale watching, heli-accessed hiking, remote wilderness lodges and extended stays in hard-to-reach regions.

  • Calendar:
    September to October

    Climate:
Crisp mornings, mild days and fewer visitors. Autumn colours peak in Québec, creating striking seasonal landscapes.

    Temperature:
Average 10°C to 18°C, cooler later in October.

    Best for:
Québec and eastern Canada for fall foliage, photography-led journeys and cultural exploration. Polar bear viewing in the Arctic, quieter travel across the country and the return of darker skies in the north, marking the start of Northern Lightsseason.
