Voyager Voice - Racil Travel Guide to St Tropez - Voyager Voices - Voyager Club

st tropez

As Curated by Voyager Voice, Racil

I grew up spending my summers in the South of France with my family. It is like a second home and the place where I truly feel happiest. St Tropez in particular holds a very special place in my heart, I have so many happy memories here. My father took me partying here for the first time too. Everything about it is magical. The town is so incredibly charming and iconic, you can really feel the aura of the old days when you walk around the little streets around the port. The shops have the best curation, the beaches are half wild, half manicured and the crowd is always fun to watch. St Tropez in the 60’s, the days of Brigitte Bardot, is an era that I adore and the inspiration behind my first summer capsule.

WHERE TO STAY...

If you are going to stay a while, the best thing is to rent a house (thats where Voyager Club’s private villa collection comes in) as you really get to live like a local, go to the market and feel the true essence of the South.

Otherwise, there are so many beautiful hotels depending on what you are looking for. The exclusive Hotel L’Epi 1959 is a real jewel and Lou Pinet is very charming. If you want more of a vibe, the Byblos or Chateau de la Messardiere are old school fabulous. If you want something in sync with the natural environment and overlooking one of the most beautiful bays of the French Riviera, try La Reserve with its own private beach club. I personally love Villa Marie as it has a homey feeling and is very peaceful after a long day at the beach or night out.

WHere to eat…

During the day you want to have lunch at one of the beach clubs. Gigi Ramatuelle is the most amazing one; the vibe is chic and cool, the food is delicious and the staff are actually friendly (not always a given in France!) It is set in a beautiful home that reminisces of the old St Tropez.

Le Club 55 is a timeless classic, don’t miss the tarte tropezienne for dessert.Le Beef Bar at the Lou Pinet is delicious and in a beautiful setting.

Head to Kinugawa for fun night of sushi and good music, and if you are in the mood for French oldies then dinner at Le Cafe is a must.

Go to Barbarac on the port for the best ice cream ever! Good luck choosing the flavour though ;-)

WHat to do…

Go for a morning hike on the coast ‘Sentier du Litoral‘ and finish at Plage des Salins for a coffee and a dip in the sea.

Head to Senequier for breakfast or aperitif and watch the boats come in and out of the port. Indulge in a Tarte Tropezienne!

Spend a lazy day at the beach and swim in the sea, my favourite spot is Tropezina beach (La Reserve).

Have sunset drinks at Tigrr at the Hermitage.

If you are one for markets, check out the one on Place des Lices every Tuesday and Saturday morning. I go there for all sorts of cute bits.

If you are there for a while then take a boat to visit all the little ‘creeks‘ around and swim in turquoise waters.

WHERE TO SHOP…

I love shopping in St Tropez. There are 3 small streets that link the port to the Place des Lices and they are filled with gems.

By Marie is fabulous for accessories and jewellery. I go there to stock up on big earrings and bangles for the summer. The clothing shop is also great.

Go to Rondini for the traditional hand made Tropezienne sandals.

The shop at Club 55 is not to be missed, the cushions are amazing and they have the best selection of sarongs I have ever seen.

Make sure to check out all the beach stores, I grabbed the coolest outfit from the store at Tropezina this summer.

WHAT TO pack...

If you need an excuse to bring out your sexy pieces out then this is the place. The vibe in St Tropez is pretty boho in the day and more dressed up in the evening. I usually pack a cool kaftan to go to the market or town for a morning coffee and croissant. A couple of linen outfits for the afternoon stroll on the port, and a selection of good beach lunch outfits.

This summer I packed all of my St Tropez Capsule which carried me from day to night smoothly with just the addition of some accessories sourced on the spot. The Epi yellow dress (as photographed) was a real hit. The Bamboo cropped top and sarong is great to wear over a bathing suit for lunch. I pack mostly flats and one pair of Aquazzura heels for that fun night out.
